Infectious Substances
Packagings for shipping infectious substances must be UN approved (UN 4G/class6.2/03/…). These packagings have successfully passed the following tests: drop test, stacking test, leakproofness test, internal pressure and puncture tests.
We supply solutions for sending one vial up to hundreds of vials per packaging. Please, contact us for the best suitable solution. Be aware that it is not allowed to ship infectious substances by mail.
Diagnostic Specimens
Packaging for Diagnostic specimens are specially designed and tested. UN approval is not required, but they must have passed a number of tests, like the drop test, leakproofness and internal pressure tests. The minimum dimensions of the packaging for air transport are 100 x 100 x 100 mm.
Mail Shipments of Diagnostic Specimens
It is allowed to ship diagnostic specimens by post. The packaging requirements are the same as for road and air transport of diagnostic specimens (PI 650/P650).
The Dutch Post (TNT POST) has additional requirements starting from 1 January 2004. From that date all packagings also need to have passed the puncture test. The Biomailer, has passed this test successfully.
The Biomailer consists of a reusable rigid plastic outer packaging (218 x 172 x 32 mm.) with a leakproof 95kPa-bag and absorbent vial holder. The Biomailer has a clear window with address cardholder for easy use.
Speciment Carrier for Diagnostic Specimens (UN 3373)
The carrier manufactured in strong plastic outer fabric with polyurethane insulation has a lid with an airtight seal.
It has side handles with the option of a shoulder strap and has fittings for installing two or more cooling packs.
The polypropylene outer fabric is resistant to heat sterilization of normal chemical detergents and the carrier is able to cushion impact in the event of the unit being dropped. The specimen carrier can be used in combination with re-usable jars (95 kPa-tested) with specimen holders.
Two sizes are available, the large version is 520 x 300 x 300 mm. on the inside, the smaller version is 320 x 250 x 250 mm.
