Medical Waste Packaging P620 for infectious substances

This new packaging is developed for disposing medical waste, solids and liquids, which need to be classified as infectious substances category A UN2814 or UN2900. The UN marking on the packaging is:

4G/Klasse 6.2/07/A/PA-02/6188

Possible usage:

Disposal of infectious waste
For waste containing infectious substances category A according to ADR 2.2.62.1.11.1. More than 97% of the packaging material can be burned when disposing the filled packaging.

Packaging for transport of infected animals
for carcasses affected by pathogens of Category A according to ADR 2.2.62.1.12.2.

What medical waste should be classified as UN2814?

• Medical waste from humans or animals that, when exposure to it occurs, is capable of causing permanent disability, life-threatening or fatal diseases in otherwise healty humans or animals
• Medical waste from research on pathogens: micro-organisms (incl. bacteria, virusses, rickettsiae, parasites and fungi) and other agents such as prions with high risk (e.g. risk group 4, WHO)
• Medical waste from new or emerging pathogens with high risk
• Medical waste of cultures which do appear in the table of Category A (IATA/ADR)

Packaging specifications:

It is constructed according to packing instruction 620 and consists of:

1. A pressure proof (>95 kPa) primary container, inner volume 20 litre
2. Absorbent material
3. Liquid tight secondary container
4. Outer packaging made of corrugated cardboard

The packaging is supplied with all required accessories and is ready for use. The primary container is for internal use, the other packaging parts are for external transport on the public roads according ADR P620.
